Usage of "the wife" when talking about a spouse
I see that quite often on Reddit, no idea if it's common anywhere else or not. A man is explaining something that happens in his life and he refers to his spouse as "the wife", for instance "I did that and then the wife said". When I read that, it automatically comes out as really pejorative, am I right or wrong in my assumption ? In French I've never heard it used that way and it would sound awful and demeaning but that kind of expressions and usages are often hard to directly translate.
Shouldn't this be 'thought'?

How do i improve my accent?
not sure if this is the right flair or the right sub for it but I have a very typical Indian accent whenever i speak in English, i have tried videos and some apps to try and mimic what they say but i can only do that for words, i keep failing whenever i have to speak in sentences. for example, i can say *bo'ohw'o'wo'er* but when i have to speak a sentence, it automatically becomes "bottle of water"
